The chairman, Caretaker Committee of Khana Local Government Area, Ambassador Marvin Yobana has announced the cancellation of revenue collection in markets within the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, for a period of three months.

The Chairman made this announcement while inaugurating political appointees for various positions in the Local Government Council.

Ambassador Yobana reiterated his decision on the dissolution of all revenue collection committees in the LGA that were appointed by the previous administration, and warned them against the continual parading of themselves as council revenue collectors.

The inauguration ceremony which took place at Bori, headquarters of the LGA, was well-attended by members of SIMplified Movement, and also sons and daughters of the area.

Ambassador Yobana charged the appointees to be good ambassadors of the LGA, and of the state at large.

Some of those inaugurated included Grace Inavor as Secretary of Council; Nwineemanah Kinakah as Assistant Secretary to Chairman and Alfred Letam as Chief of Staff.

Furthermore, the council Boss promised to meet with the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution company, PHED, to provide electricity supply for the people of the LGA to boost businesses and expand revenue generation.

He revealed that, in the coming days, he will set up neighbourhood watch security outfits to support the security architecture in the area.

He promised to increase the stipends of security agencies, to boost their morale in providing adequate security for people of the area. He made a pledge also to provide security vehicles to aid their operations.

He also extended an olive branch to hoodlums operating on the Ogoni axis of the East-West Road and other parts of Khana Local Government Area, urging them to turn a new leaf, adding that his administration will not hesitate to declare them persona non-grata if they fail to change.

Ambassador Yobana added that, in the coming days, he will be having meetings with the Road Transport Union of Nigeria including commercial motorcyclists (Okada Riders Association) to discuss modalities for reducing revenues due to the Council.
